Description
Sautéed Garlic Broccolini is a delicious and nutritious side dish made with tender broccolini cooked to perfection in butter-infused oil. A flavourful green vegetable delight.
Ingredients
Broccolini
- 1 large bunch Broccolini
- 3 tbsp butter
- 8 cloves garlic, minced
Oyster Sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
- 6 tbsp water
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tbsp peanut oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 clove garlic, finely grated
- 1 tsp ginger, finely grated
Instructions
Broccolini
- Begin by rinsing the Broccolini under cool water and shaking off the excess moisture. Trim about half an inch from the bottom of the Broccolini stems.
- In a cold skillet over low heat, add the minced garlic and butter. Allow the pan to gradually heat up, letting the garlic warm through and sizzle slowly. Stir the garlic towards the middle and end of the cooking process to ensure even browning. This typically takes around 8-10 minutes. Once golden brown, remove the garlic from the skillet, setting it aside while leaving the melted butter in the pan.
- Add the Broccolini to the pan and increase the heat to medium-low. Toss the Broccolini frequently, allowing it to turn bright green and become tender. This should take approximately 6-8 minutes.
Oyster Sauce
- In a small saucepan, combine water and cornstarch, mixing until the cornstarch dissolves.
- Add the remaining ingredients for the oyster sauce, turning the stove to medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, allowing it to thicken for about 30 seconds. Remove from heat.
Assembly
- Drizzle the prepared oyster sauce over the sautéed Broccolini, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- Sprinkle the toasted garlic over the dish for an added burst of flavour.
- Serve the Sautéed Garlic Broccolini as a delightful side dish
Yes, yes, yes!!! you did not have to ask, did you ! How can you cook it another way 😉 ?
They look crispy and fresh!
I’d love it just stir-fried with garlic, no need for all the sauces. Very nice already. We call it “ching chao” meaning plain fried.
Such a wonderful dish packed with simple yet flavourful profile! Give me some crusty bread, and I can easily enjoy the broccolini as a main course 🙂

It’s funny- I never think to buy broccolini on my own, and it very rarely comes up in recipes. I tend to think it’s too tough compared to regular broccoli, but it does look so elegant and delicious here. I’ll have to give it another shot.
That is so cool that your daughter grew broccolini in the backyard! I’ve never tried broccolini, but we did grow broccoli once. It was much easier to just buy broccoli in the store. Haha. I’ll have to try broccolini now though! And the garlic butter here is just a classic!
