Hitchki – Whitefield (Bengaluru, Karnataka, India)

Honest review of Hitchki Whitefield at Phoenix Marketcity Bengaluru featuring menu prices, Kingfisher Ultra beer, vegetarian bar snacks, and vibrant ambiance.  Last weekday in Bengaluru, team drinks at Hitchki, veggie snacks that didn’t feel vegetarian, Kingfisher Ultra on repeat, and a NZ$30 luggage delivered in 20 minutes. Only in India.

Most of my time in Bengaluru, either my colleagues or the company credit card took care of the meals. But on my last few days, I wanted to do something different, treat my team myself.

It was our final weekday together. After lunch, they wrapped up early and brought me along for souvenir shopping, true Bengaluru hospitality. They even made sure some of the women joined us because, apparently, they’re the best at bargaining.

They were right.

Watching my colleagues haggle over kurtis was entertainment on its own.

The 16-Minute Luggage Challenge

I didn’t buy much, just items for family. Work had already gifted me so many sweets and snacks to bring back to New Zealand that I needed another suitcase.

At the mall, luggage prices were similar to New Zealand. Then one colleague introduced me to the magic of Indian quick-commerce apps, apparently you can order anything from canned tomatoes to TVs and get it delivered in 16 minutes.

Challenge accepted.

Since I didn’t have an Indian phone number, my colleague ordered it for me. ₹1,500–₹1,600 (around NZ$30) for a suitcase. Delivery location? The restaurant we were heading to for drinks:

Hitchki.

The app promised 16 minutes. It arrived in 20.

Still impressive.

By the time we finished our first round, I had a brand-new suitcase delivered to the bar. India’s online shopping game is next level.

The Food & Drinks

We ordered purely vegetarian snacks, and honestly, I didn’t even miss the meat.

Manchow Soup (₹355) – Aromatic broth served with fried noodles. Comforting, flavourful, and nicely balanced.

Chaat Bowl (₹395 – Chickpeas, onions, pineapple, tomato, capsicum, lemon, coriander. Fresh, tangy, light.

Lets Nacho (₹570) – Nachos with tomato salsa, cheddar cheese fondue, refried beans, guacamole. Fun, indulgent, perfect for sharing.

Chana Corn 65 (₹305) – Fried corn kernels and chickpeas tossed in garlic, Karnataka 65 masala, curry leaf, mustard. Spicy, addictive, great beer snack.

Vegetable Pizza (₹445) – Udupi-style pizza with homemade tomato sauce, onion (kanda), capsicum (shimla mirch), cheese. Different from Western pizza, lighter, slightly sweeter sauce, but enjoyable.

Kingfisher Ultra 500ml (₹290) – This became an instant favourite. I was familiar with regular Kingfisher, but the Ultra version is smoother, cleaner, and more refreshing.

The Food Verdict

Everything was vegetarian, but it didn’t feel limiting at all.

The dishes were creative, well-presented, and packed with flavour, far from the typical heavy curries I’d been having. Portions were satisfying without being overwhelming, making it ideal for sharing rounds of drinks.

The starters really stood out. Each plate brought something different to the table, crunch, spice, tang, creaminess.

Ambiance & Service

Hitchki has a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. Modern interiors with a vibrant, slightly nostalgic Bollywood-inspired energy. It’s upbeat without being chaotic, perfect for unwinding after work.

What impressed me most was the staff.

Professional. Courteous. Attentive but not intrusive.

They checked in politely, ensured drinks were topped up on time, and maintained a cheerful presence throughout the night. That kind of service makes a difference.

The Luggage Arrival

Right around 20 minutes in, the luggage arrived at the restaurant.

I was honestly impressed, not just by the speed but by the quality. For the price, it was solid enough to handle the mountain of sweets and snacks my colleagues gifted me.

Only in India can you order a suitcase to a bar and have it arrive before your second beer.

Pricing & Value

For a mall bar‑restaurant in Whitefield, the pricing feels surprisingly reasonable, starters typically sit in the ₹300–₹600 range, pizzas hover around ₹445, and a 500ml beer comes in at ₹290. When you factor in the lively ambiance, attentive service, and the fact that it’s right inside Phoenix Marketcity, the overall value feels more than fair.

Final Thoughts

Hitchki Whitefield turned out to be one of those places that just works for everything after work drinks, team hangouts, casual bites, or an easy-going meal in the middle of a mall wander. The food hits the spot, the beer flows generously, the service is genuinely warm, and the whole place hums with a lively, feel good energy. And personally, it’ll always be memorable as the spot where I impulsively ordered a suitcase mid‑drink and had it delivered before the night was over. Would I go back? Absolutely.

The way you have described it – the suitcase purchase and all surrounding it has been fun to read also :) ! The nachos and the chat bowl please . . .

  2. Sounds like a tasty meal! And you know I’ve heard in India. you can order delivery of just about anything. That’s both fabulous but also potentially dangerous. I might never leave home!
