I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Coops Corner Pub a few times, mainly for family friends’ parties. However, this particular visit was a bit different—a cozy dinner with the family. Located in the heart of Viaduct Harbour, Coops offered stunning waterfront views, making it a prime spot for a relaxing meal or casual drinks with friends.
The service was consistently friendly and efficient. Even during peak hours, the staff ensured we were well looked after, which added to the overall positive experience.
Coops Corner Pub had a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The modern, stylish decor made it a comfortable and enjoyable place to unwind, catch up with friends, and enjoy good food and drinks. My previous visits usually involved standing around at cocktail parties, sampling their variety of pizzas and snacks. While the food was always enjoyable, the dining experience felt rushed. This time, we opted for a seated dinner, taking our time to savour each dish.
Big Boy Brisket Burger (NZ$36.50): This was the star of the meal! Featuring 300g of roast brisket, onion rings, slaw, and burger sauce, all in a brioche bun with fries, this burger was tender and bursting with flavour. It was definitely a highlight and a must-try for anyone visiting Coops.
The Cubano Pizza (NZ$28.50): This pizza, topped with roast pork, ham, Swiss and Mozzarella cheese, and jalapeno mustard, was another hit. The combination of flavours was unique and delicious, with a crispy crust that made every bite a delight.
Chilli Prawn Spaghetti (NZ$29.90): A delightful surprise, this dish featured fresh prawns, tomato, lemon, parsley, and parmesan. It struck a perfect balance of flavours, with just the right amount of heat, making it a great choice for seafood lovers.
Coops Corner Pub was a fantastic spot that combined decent food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere, making it a popular choice for hanging out with friends or enjoying a meal with a view. Sadly, it closed its doors a few months ago.
But fear not—Rosies Cantina has stepped in to fill the void. Having tried Rosies in Wellington, I can confidently say that it offers even better food while maintaining the same welcoming vibe that made Coops a favourite. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in search of a new go-to spot!
