Hanok BBQ Korean Grill House (Hội An, Vietnam)
A Korean grill feast right in the heart of Hội An, where great meats, quick service and proper charcoal grilling make every bite unforgettable. Korean BBQ buffet in Hoi An with great meats, charcoal grills, and excellent value.

Whenever I travel, I make it a point to indulge in things that are a bit of a luxury back home. In New Zealand, Korean BBQ isn’t exactly pricey, but the quality of meat varies dramatically depending on what you pay. If you want the really good stuff, it comes at a cost. So, during this Hội An trip, I set a quiet mission for myself: find a Korean BBQ spot that delivers at least good-quality cuts without the New Zealand price tag.
That’s when Hanok BBQ Korean Grill House entered the picture, a place that promised plenty, and thankfully, delivered even more.

First Impressions and the Spread
We went for the dinner buffet and from the moment we sat down, everything simply worked. Service was warm, attentive, and fast. Place was airconditioned and not too crowded, seats are comfy. Food arrived quickly, plates were swapped out without hesitation, and the grill top was changed frequently so nothing charred or stuck.
And yes, it’s charcoal grilling. The real deal. That alone already elevated the meal.
The selection was massive, especially the meats. The beef and pork belly were standouts, but the variety made the whole experience feel like an all-you-can-explore rather than just all-you-can-eat. There were soups, vegetables, noodles, rice dishes, and classic Korean sides. Even something as humble as a beef kimchi stew, served with springy, slightly eggy noodles, tasted excellent.
A Feast for Two
With portions intentionally small, it was easy for the two of us to try as many items as possible. We started with banchan: kimchi, pickled cucumber, pickled radish, perilla leaves and crisp lettuce. Then came the rounds of meats, pork shoulder, rolled beef belly, pork belly, pork intestines, beef shank, marinated pork gristle, marinated pork ribs, and spicy octopus.
Some of those we enjoyed so much we ordered twice. And yes, every now and then a staff member would swoop in with perfect timing to change the grill top, keeping everything cooking evenly.
To complete the experience, we had ice-cold beer which was surprisingly served Filipino-style, with ice, I never knew Vietnam do this as well. It was exactly what we needed in the warm, humid Vietnam evening.
Value That Makes You Pause
“Pricey for Vietnam,” some might say, 250k VND for weekday lunch and 269k VND for weekday dinner. But convert that to New Zealand dollars and it becomes $16.85 and $18.20. Back home, that doesn’t even get you a decent dine-in meal, let alone unlimited high-quality Korean BBQ cooked over charcoal.
Good cuts of meat, plenty of sides, quick service and zero long waits… the value simply made sense.

The Unexpected Bonus
One thing I really appreciated: you don’t walk out smelling like you’ve been marinated yourself. Each grill has a strong extractor fan hovering right over it, pulling the smoke away the moment it rises. This is a huge upgrade compared to the majority of Korean BBQ places in NZ, where vents sit on the ceiling and barely do anything.
A Solid Korean BBQ Fix in Hội An
If you happen to be in Hội An and find yourself craving a proper Korean grill experience, Hanok BBQ Korean Grill House is absolutely worth the visit. Efficient, tasty, generous, and great value, exactly what a Korean BBQ buffet should be.
