After days of exploring lantern-lit streets and indulging in Vietnamese delicacies, there comes a point when you crave something different, something familiar. For me, that craving led to Burger Craft, a small but lively burger joint in the heart of Hoi An that promises a slice of Americana right in Vietnam’s ancient town.

If you’ve been travelling across Southeast Asia for a while, you’ll understand the longing for a proper, juicy burger, the kind that drips just enough sauce, comes with crisp fries, and pairs beautifully with a cold beer. Burger Craft ticks all those boxes and then some.

A Chill Hangout with Western Comfort

Located conveniently near the tailors and many boutique stores, Burger Craft is easy to spot and hard to resist. The vibe is casual and cosy, with sofas and soft lighting that make it perfect for a lazy afternoon meal or an evening wind-down after a hot day out.

The crowd here is a pleasant mix of locals, tourists, and expats, all drawn in by the promise of burgers, beer, and air conditioning (a blessing in Hoi An’s tropical heat). The service is quick, menus are in English, and the staff are attentive without being intrusive. You never wait long for your order, even when it’s busy.

What We Ordered

We went all in for the O Canada Burger Combo (VND 220,000), a mouthwatering stack of maple bacon, cheddar cheese, caramelised onions, lettuce, tomato, and burger sauce, served with fries and a drink. For an extra VND 20,000, we upgraded to Truffle Fries, and swapped the soft drink for a Craft Beer (+VND 65,000).

Total damage? VND 305,000, roughly NZ$20, which for a juicy burger, fries, and beer, is an absolute steal.

The burger patty was perfectly cooked, juicy, meaty, and full of flavour. The maple bacon added a hint of sweetness, and the truffle fries were crisp with just the right amount of truffle aroma, not overpowering. It’s one of those burgers that remind you of home but still feels like a treat abroad.

But the star for me? The Thai Lemongrass Chicken Wings (1 lb, VND 140,000). They arrived crispy despite being delivered, coated in a tangy, spicy-sweet sauce that packed a beautiful punch. The portion size could’ve been larger, but the flavour made up for it.

Beer, Burgers, and That Perfect Pairing

I went for the East West Pacific Pilsner (5%), an aromatic, light, and crisp beer brewed in Vietnam. Made with barley malts and a good dose of modern hops, it’s refreshing and balanced, the ideal partner for a hot day and a hearty burger. Burger Craft also offers several craft beer options, including IPAs, lagers, and stouts, so there’s something for every palate.

The combination of a cold beer, a juicy burger, and air conditioning in Hoi An’s humid weather is unbeatable.

A Taste of Home in Vietnam

While the food prices here are higher than most local spots, by Western standards they’re still very affordable. What you’re paying for is quality, Australian beef, fresh ingredients, and recipes fine-tuned by a passionate owner (which I guess is Korean, hence the good choice in beers) who clearly loves what she does.

Each burger feels handcrafted with care, and the attention to detail shows. You can tell the recipes were refined over time to reach that satisfying balance of flavour and texture.

The restaurant’s decor, a mix of sports bar and industrial chic, adds to the experience, even if the space is a little small. It’s the kind of place where you can easily linger over a few beers, chatting with fellow travellers or catching up on messages with the comfort of Western-style food done right.

Verdict: The Best Burger Spot in Hoi An

If you ever find yourself in Hoi An craving a break from pho and banh mi, Burger Craft should be your go-to. The burgers are well-executed, the wings are addictive, and the beers are cold and plentiful.
