Kenny Rogers Roasters SM Dagupan (Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines)

Review of Kenny Rogers Roasters SM Dagupan, flavourful chicken, homestyle sides, and cornbread-style muffins worth trying. Tried Kenny Rogers Roasters in SM Dagupan, chicken cooked just right, comforting sides, and cornbread-style muffins that hit the spot.

Every time I passed by Kenny Rogers Roasters at SM Dagupan, the place was packed. That alone was reason enough to finally give it a try. My parents used to eat at Kenny Rogers when they lived in the Philippines, so there was a sense of nostalgia attached to the visit too.

The restaurant is best known for its chicken, with its menu revolving around two main options: Solo A (chicken or ribs plus one side) and Solo B (chicken or ribs plus two sides). Simple, straightforward, and very much like a home-style set meal.

Plenty of Side Options

Part of the charm here lies in the variety of sides. The list included creamed spinach, corn and carrots, spinach mashed potato, steamed vegetables, macaroni and cheese, chicken noodle soup, sour cream and chives potato, java rice, garlic rice, or plain steamed rice. It’s the kind of menu that feels familiar but flexible enough to mix and match depending on what you’re in the mood for.

I went with a Solo B chicken meal paired with sour cream and chives potato plus macaroni and cheese, while Mum ordered Solo A chicken with corn and carrots. We also added their famous corn muffins, trying both the original and the ube version, and washed everything down with iced tea.

The Chicken and Sides

The chicken was cooked just right, tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. It reminded me a lot of Nando’s, both in taste and cooking style, though without the heavy spice. The sour cream and chives potato was exactly what you’d expect: creamy, savoury, and balanced. The macaroni and cheese, on the other hand, had that comforting, no-frills quality, almost like a slightly upgraded Kraft box mac and cheese. It wasn’t overly rich, but it worked well as a side.

The corn muffins were a pleasant surprise. Instead of the typical sweet, cakey muffin, these leaned more towards cornbread, slightly savoury, moist, and with real corn bits inside for texture. Both the original and the ube flavour had their charm, with the ube adding a subtle sweetness that felt uniquely Filipino.

Final Thoughts on Kenny Rogers SM Dagupan

While Kenny Rogers Roasters doesn’t necessarily reinvent chicken, what it does offer is consistency and comfort. It’s no wonder this branch is always full, solid roasted chicken, homestyle sides, and those cornbread-style muffins make for a reliable and satisfying meal.

If you’re at SM Dagupan and craving something hearty yet familiar, Kenny Rogers Roasters is an easy choice.
