Ever since our trip to Japan a few years back, I’ve been craving mochi donuts, the kind that’s chewy, slightly bouncy, and incredibly satisfying. So, when I spotted a Mister Donut branch in Greenhills, I knew exactly what I had to do.
Unlike the usual fried donuts topped with sugar or glaze, mochi donuts stand out for their texture. Made with glutinous rice flour, they’re soft, chewy, and just the right balance between fluffy and dense. They’re the kind of snack you don’t just eat, you experience.
Mister Donut Greenhills had plenty of flavours to choose from: Strawberry, Cookie Cloud, Cookie Peanut, Rocky Road, All Chocolate, Rainbow, Sugar Raised, Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and more. But knowing I couldn’t possibly eat them all in one sitting, I stuck with three that caught my eye: Ube, Almond Special, and Matcha.
At ₱50 to ₱55 each (roughly USD 0.89–0.98), they’re reasonably priced for a quick snack or even a light dessert.
As a self-confessed texture eater, these donuts were right up my alley. They had that signature mochi chewiness without being overly sticky or dense. The softness made each bite feel light, yet still satisfying.
Flavour-wise, the differences weren’t as bold as I had hoped. The Ube, Almond, and Matcha mostly tasted like variations of white chocolate glaze, with the flavouring layered on top. While it wasn’t disappointing, it did make me curious about how the darker, richer options like Dark Chocolate or Cookie Peanut might taste for more contrast.
Still, even without the strongest flavour variety, the combination of chewiness and sweetness was enough to keep me happy. These weren’t overly indulgent or heavy, the kind of treat you can enjoy without feeling weighed down.
If you’re in Greenhills and looking for something light, quick, and a little different from the usual donut, Mister Donut’s mochi donuts are a solid choice. They’re affordable, filling enough for a snack, and best of all, they deliver that chewy bite that makes mochi desserts so addictive.
Next time, I’ll definitely go for the darker flavours for more contrast, but for now, my ube and matcha cravings were satisfied.
