Olle (Milford, North Shore City, New Zealand)
Contemporary Asian Kiwi fusion at Olle in Milford: elegant set menu, attentive service, and cosy modern interior. Modern-Asian meets Kiwi produce: flawless set menu, sleek ambience, and friendly service. My new go-to for dinner in Milford.

My family and I headed to Olle in Milford on a crisp evening, curious to explore this much-talked-about Auckland spot. Nestled on East Coast Road, the restaurant immediately felt inviting. Inside, the space blends the sleek with the cosy: warm lighting, stylish seating, and design touches that make it feel modern yet casually comfortable.
Shared Plates with a Palette of Flavours

We opted for Olle’s $55 set menu, which offered a carefully curated selection of favourites. Dishes were designed to be shared, a welcome idea, especially as we wanted to explore as many flavours as possible in one sitting.

Kimchi Mascarpone Dip with house-made crisps kicked things off perfectly. The tangy kimchi folded into creamy mascarpone was deliciously balanced. Crisp chips made the ideal scooping vessel. This is Kiwi Onion dip elevated to a new heights.

Prawn Nuggets, paired with lemon mayo and lettuce, were light yet satisfying finger food, crisp on the outside, soft inside. Reminds me of the yum cha prawn toast without the toast.

Crispy Eggplant stood out as one of the evening’s highlights. Battered to a golden crisp, the interior remained creamy, while the Sichuan caramel and cashew cream added sweetness and richness in harmonious balance. This dish could happily exist as a vegetarian entrée in its own right.
Elevating Seafood with Unexpected Textures

The Market Fish Crudo was truly inventive. Line-caught fish arrived on a bed of pear, chili vinaigrette, and dashi granita. The interplay of spicy sweetness, chilled crushed ice, and delicate raw fish was playful and surprising, it engaged both taste and texture in a way few dishes do.
Hearty Main with a Sophisticated Touch

The Wagyu Beef Steak was another standout. Slices of high-grade beef rested under a bulgogi emulsion, garlic cream, and chives. The meat was tender and flavourful, and the condiments elevated each bite with bold, savoury notes that felt both comforting and refined.

Paired with the Nori Butter Rice, topped with tobiko and pickled daikon, the meal felt complete. The rice was lightly salted, rich with umami, and provided the perfect foil for spicy and meaty flavours. Honestly, this is like eating umami in its pure form.
Sweet Finish with Modern Flair

Dessert came in the form of a deconstructed Apple Crumble, featuring burnt butter caramel, chocolate macadamia crumbs, and anglaise. Tart fruit, crunchy nuts, and smooth sauce layered perfectly, rich without being overly sweet.
Impeccable Ambience and Service
Olle’s interior strikes a balance between modern elegance and cosy warmth. Every detail, from the lighting to the sound-dampening under-table installation, seemed thoughtfully engineered for comfort. The server who served us was welcoming and efficient, when we mentioned we only had 90 minutes before heading off to a movie, she helped speed up service without ever feeling rushed.
The balance of flavours, textures, and presentation, and the attention behind every dish and detail, made the evening feel special.
Final Thoughts
Olle delivers elegantly executed dishes with a fusion flair in a space that feels both classy and relaxed. It’s rare to find a menu where every dish impresses, but that’s exactly how our evening unfolded. From the crispy eggplant to the inventive fish crudo and indulgent wagyu steak, there wasn’t a miss in sight. Combine that with stellar service and a cosy interior, and you’ve got a spot you’ll want to revisit again and again.
If you’re in Milford and looking for a standout dinner experience, make a reservation at Olle. You won’t regret it.
