Historic Kahuku Sugar Mill food trucks is now home to Oʻahu’s best food truck court with shrimp, poke, huli huli chicken, tacos, and malasadas. Historic sugar mill + dozens of food trucks = foodie heaven! From garlic shrimp to malasadas, it’s the tastiest stop on the North Shore. #KahukuSugarMill
There are plenty of roadside food spots around Oʻahu’s North Shore, but none offer the variety, vibrance, and historical charm quite like the Kahuku Sugar Mill food trucks. Located just past Turtle Bay as you head east along the Kamehameha Highway, this once-bustling sugar plantation is now a lively hub of flavours, featuring dozens of food trucks, dessert stands, smoothie bars, and small vendors selling everything from art to coffee.
It’s the perfect pit stop during a circle island drive or a scenic road trip from Haleiwa back to Honolulu. But this isn’t just a quick bite kind of place—it’s a destination in itself, packed with culinary treasures, open-air seating, and a dose of Hawaii’s multicultural history.
The Kahuku Sugar Mill dates back to the early 1900s, once a major part of Hawaii’s booming sugar industry. As a subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin (one of the Big Five sugar barons), it processed local sugarcane and employed thousands of immigrant workers from across Asia and Europe. Although the mill ceased operations in the late 20th century, its bones remain visible today, blending rustic, industrial remnants with the vibrant colours and aromas of modern-day food trucks.
From fresh-off-the-farm shrimp to fiery Thai stir-fries and sweet malasadas, here’s a guide to the mouthwatering lineup at the Kahuku Sugar Mill:
Seafood & Shrimp
Mexican & Latin-Inspired
Grilled & BBQ Favourites
Fruits, Smoothies, Sweets & Coffee
Pizza, Sandwiches & Comfort Food
Asian & Fusion Delights
The Kahuku Sugar Mill Food Truck Court is more than just a stop—it’s an experience that brings together Hawaii’s past and present. The diversity of flavours, combined with the site’s historical significance, makes it a must-visit spot on any North Shore itinerary. Whether you’re in the mood for garlicky shrimp, tropical smoothies, or something sweet and fried, there’s something here for everyone—and plenty of shaded seating to enjoy it all under the Hawaiian sun.

I'm planning on going to Oahu soon so this opens up a whole new food scene for me! Besides the Kahuku Sugar Mill, 'Da Bald Guy' also looks good (I'm attracted to the name)! Are you still living in New Zealand?
Yes I do still live in NZ. There are a lot of these food trucks outside of Honolulu, Kahuku is the largest concentration of them. I bet you will enjoy a lot of them, not just Da Bald Guy
A delightful walk-around! Last time I drove around the North Shore it was still a bygone world. Would have loved to occupy one of those tables on a fine day when the trades were not too strong and try a little bit of this and that . . , seafood, Thai and Vietnamese for me . , thank you for giving us a look :) !
