In fact, it serves some of the best tacos I’ve had in Auckland—and that’s saying something!

Freaky Burger & Tacos operates more like a classic New Zealand takeaway than a dine-in restaurant. There are a few seats inside, but the space is clearly designed with takeaway and delivery in mind. The interior is basic, and while their website was well done you might think it looks more like proper restaurant, in reality, it’s all about quick service and high turnover. That said, they do get points for being eco-friendly—everything is served in biodegradable containers, and all cutlery is wooden.

When we arrived, the place was buzzing with Uber Eats orders, and the staff were fully focused on keeping up with demand. Don’t expect a chatty welcome, but they’re efficient and friendly enough to give a quick smile while they work. You can order at the counter, but we opted for the self-service kiosk to keep things smooth.

Pro tip: don’t bother upgrading to a double—this thing is already stacked!

Fish Tacos – Simple but Delicious
These were packed with flavour, and the crumbed fish was crispy and fresh. The curry aioli gave it a unique twist, and the portion size was just right.

Everything was well-seasoned, well-cooked, and served quickly. The portion sizes are generous for the price, making it an easy recommendation.
