Sometimes, when cruising, you’re not in the mood for a sit-down meal or a heavy buffet session. Enter The Carnival Deli, a casual sandwich bar designed to offer quick-serve options for those on the go. Located on many Carnival ships like the Radiance, this spot delivers a mix of hot and cold sandwiches, wraps, and sides to tide you over between adventures at sea.
The Menu
The Carnival Deli offers an extensive menu, from classic deli-style cold sandwiches like Tuna Salad and Turkey & Swiss to warm comfort food staples like the Grilled Reuben or Meatball Sub. There’s even a Southwest Chicken Wrap for those seeking something a little different. Here’s a snapshot of what’s on offer:

Our Experience
While The Deli offers an impressive variety, I found it to be the least exciting food venue on the Carnival Radiance—not because it’s bad, but simply because other options like Pizzeria del Capitano and Guy’s Burger Joint outshined it. That said, The Deli still serves a purpose for cruisers who want a quick snack without the queues, as it’s often less crowded than other eateries onboard.
The highlights for me were:
- Tomato & Mozzarella Sandwich: A solid vegetarian choice. The soft focaccia, vibrant arugula, and flavourful pesto and balsamic made this one of the better items we tried.
- Fries: Strangely enough, this became our go-to spot for fries since it had the shortest queues, and the fries were consistently fresh.
Unfortunately, some of the other offerings didn’t live up to expectations:
- Hot Dog: While fully loaded with onions, chili, and sauerkraut, the presentation was lacklustre and the flavour unimpressive.
- Steak & Cheese Sandwich: This should have been a standout, but it lacked the richness and hearty quality you’d expect from a good steak and cheese.
What to Expect
The Carnival Deli operates much like a no-frills sandwich shop. You can grab a pre-made sandwich or order one fresh, with relatively quick preparation. The setup is basic, but the staff’s friendly and helpful demeanour makes the experience pleasant.
Final Thoughts
The Carnival Deli is a convenient option for a quick meal, especially when you’re looking to avoid the busier food venues. However, while it gets the job done, it doesn’t deliver the same level of satisfaction as some of the other standout eateries onboard. Still, the staff’s dedication to service adds a touch of charm, even if the food itself falls a bit short.
For me, this was a one-and-done experience. I’d suggest grabbing a quick snack here if you’re in the mood for something light or can’t face another queue—but if you’re after a memorable meal, you might want to head elsewhere.
