Our recent trip to Huntington Beach ended with a perfect evening at Simmzy’s, a laid-back coastal pub that blends great food with stunning ocean views. After a scenic drive from Laguna Beach, we arrived just in time to catch the remnants of a breathtaking sunset, which set the mood for a relaxed dinner with family. Located at Pacific City, Simmzy’s combines a casual vibe with beachy charm, offering an inviting atmosphere whether you’re sitting indoors or out. The view of the ocean, framed by palm trees and open skies, really adds a vacation feel to the experience.
The Vibe and Menu
Simmzy’s is known for its handcrafted beer selection, burgers, and tacos, all served in a setting that makes you feel like you’re on holiday. Every table has a view, which really makes it feel like your “home away from home,” especially when you’re by the beach. The open and airy layout keeps things casual, even when the place is packed.

We started with the Simmzy’s Nachos (US$12.50), which were seriously moreish—loaded with Chihuahua and cheddar cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, grilled tomato salsa, pickled jalapeños, crispy hominy, shishito peppers, and queso cheese sauce. We opted to add pork for an extra US$3.00, which gave the nachos a smoky, savory bite. These were so filling that we were almost full by the time our mains arrived!
Tacos, Poke Bowls, and That Perfect Burger
For mains, my daughter ordered two tacos: the Pork Al Pastor (US$5.75) and the Baja Fish Taco (US$5.50). The Pork Al Pastor taco came in a flour tortilla with guacamole, lime, salsa verde, queso fresco, roasted pineapple, and cilantro. The Baja Fish Taco featured crispy beer-battered rock cod, chipotle aioli, pico de gallo, chipotle slaw, lime, and cilantro. The contrast in flavours between the two tacos was amazing—each bite brought out something new, from the sweet tang of roasted pineapple in the Al Pastor to the spicy kick of the chipotle slaw in the fish taco.

My wife went for the Hawaiian Tuna Poke Bowl (US$15.75), a vibrant dish filled with ahi tuna, carrots, cucumbers, red onions, pickled ginger, scallions, and togarashi peanuts, all served over sushi rice in a soy and ginger marinade. The freshness of the tuna really stood out, making it a refreshing and substantial meal.

For myself, I couldn’t resist trying the Simmzy’s Burger (US$17.50), which featured a beef patty topped with Tillamook cheddar, chow-chow onions, lettuce, tomato, and garlic aioli. I had it cooked medium, and it came out just the way I like it—crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. I chose the Simmzy’s Fries as my side, and they didn’t disappoint. There’s something comforting about a well-cooked burger, especially when paired with a cold beer and an ocean view.
Beer and Service
Speaking of beer, Simmzy’s offers a rotating selection of craft brews, and I opted for the Beach Cruisin’ Blonde Ale (4.8%), which was light and refreshing—perfect for a summer evening by the beach. The beer menu has something for everyone, and the staff are always happy to make recommendations if you’re not sure what to try.

The service at Simmzy’s was fantastic. The staff were friendly, attentive, and more than willing to help with our orders. Coming from New Zealand, where portions tend to be a bit smaller, we were blown away by the serving sizes—everything was huge by our standards! Despite that, we tried a bit of everything and left absolutely stuffed.

Final Thoughts
Simmzy’s is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. The food was delicious, the atmosphere laid-back, and the views unbeatable. Whether you’re craving a juicy burger, fresh poke, or some moreish tacos, this place has something to please everyone. Plus, with their impressive selection of craft beers and affordable prices, you can enjoy a great meal without breaking the bank. If you ever find yourself in Huntington Beach, make sure to stop by Simmzy’s—it’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy good food, and soak in those West Coast vibes.
