Noy’s Barbecue, nestled along the vibrant Great North Road in New Lynn, Auckland, beckons diners with the promise of authentic Filipino flavours and a welcoming atmosphere. Intrigued by the enticing posts I had stumbled upon on Instagram and TikTok, I embarked on a culinary adventure to experience this culinary gem for myself. My first visit to Noy’s Barbecue was met with eager anticipation, and despite the bustling lunchtime crowd, we were fortunate to secure a spare table upon our arrival at around 1:30 PM.

As we settled into our seats, surrounded by the lively hum of conversation and the intoxicating aroma of sizzling Pinoy style barbecue, it became evident that Noy’s Barbecue was a popular among locals, Pinoys across Auckland, and food enthusiasts alike. The restaurant exuded a warm and inviting ambiance, felt like a nice carinderia, transporting diners to the bustling streets of the Philippines.

Our culinary adventure kicked off with an enticing spread of Filipino barbecue delights, each dish skilfully crafted and brimming with flavour. From the juicy Chicken BBQ (NZ$15.00) to the tender Pork Belly Meal (NZ$17.00) and Pork BBQ Meal (NZ$15.00) , served alongside fragrant yellow rice, atsara (pickled vegetables), and an assortment of vinegar and sauces, every bite was a harmonious symphony of taste sensations. The meats were indeed a true delight—tender, succulent, and bursting with flavour.

Despite the bustling lunchtime rush, the service at Noy’s Barbecue remained prompt and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. While the limited parking options along Great North Road (there are lots across the road) posed a minor inconvenience, our early arrival afforded us the luxury of securing a table without having to endure a lengthy wait.

In addition to savouring the savory delights on offer, we couldn’t resist indulging in a serving of Taho (NZ$7.00 large) , a beloved traditional Filipino dessert featuring tofu jelly, tapioca pearls, and sweet sugar syrup. Despite initially encountering an “Out of Stock” message at the ordering kiosk for this delectable treat, our persistence paid off. Fortunately, one of the servers overheard our conversation and kindly checked her pots. To our delight, there were still a few portions left, just enough to satisfy our craving. With two orders secured, we were rewarded with a sweet and satisfying conclusion to our meal.

Noy’s Barbecue stands as a beacon of Filipino cuisine in the heart of Auckland, offering a warm welcome, delectable offerings, and an unforgettable dining experience. While navigating the bustling streets of New Lynn may present a challenge, the culinary treasures that await at Noy’s Barbecue make it a destination well worth seeking out.
