Try our easy Roasted Cabbage with Bacon and Balsamic recipe! Thick cabbage slices roasted to perfection with bacon, balsamic vinegar, and Parmesan cheese.


  • 1 large head green cabbage
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and chopped (reserve fat), omit for vegetarian option
  • 4 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • olive oil


  1. Slice the cabbage crosswise into 1-inch-thick steaks.
  2. Arrange the cabbage steaks in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  3. Brush both sides of the cabbage steaks with the reserved bacon fat or olive oil for a vegetarian option.
  4. Roast the cabbage in the 200C preheated oven for 30-45 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  5. Once the cabbage is tender and caramelized to your liking, remove it from the oven.
  6. Sprinkle the cooked bacon pieces over the roasted cabbage, omit this step for vegetarian option.
  7. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the cabbage steaks for a burst of flavour.
  8. Finish by generously topping the cabbage steaks with lots of freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy the delicious flavours of your homemade roasted cabbage with bacon and balsamic!

    Such a simple and tasty way to prepare a healthy and reasonably priced vegetable ! This would suffice me for lunch or the main part of dinner perchance with a small plate of seafood to star. Do not use much bacon but some of it crispy atop to give taste works well even with me 🙂 !!!
