After a recent after-office party, I stumbled upon a hidden gem, Palmer. Nestled near our office, this rooftop haven was a revelation. Although I passed by weekly, its existence eluded me until our vendors treated us to an unforgettable evening.

The ambiance at Palmer struck the perfect chord, creating an inviting atmosphere for a cocktail soiree. From the moment we walked in, the staff’s warm greeting set the tone for impeccable service throughout the night. The rooftop views added an extra layer of allure, making it a must-visit spot.

Palmer offers the ideal setting for post-work hangouts, boasting great service and a fantastic menu. Every staff member exudes friendliness, contributing to the welcoming vibe. The food, even though we indulged in a curated menu for our private event, exceeded expectations. Notable highlights included the succulent chicken, flavourful squid, and an array of delightful cocktails.

Impressed by the chic fit-out and attentive service, Palmer delivered on both aesthetics and taste. While the regular menu was temporarily set aside for our private gathering, the variety of dishes, from seafood and vegetables to charcuterie and grilled prawns, showcased culinary excellence. The freshness of the sashimi and oysters, paired with creative platters like Lavosh-style crackers and Korean-style chicken, left a lasting impression.

Situated in the heart of the city, Palmer is poised to be a hotspot, especially during the vibrant summer months. The drink selection, including an impressive wine list and delectable cocktails, complements the venue’s chic charm.

Here’s a glimpse of the gastronomic delights that graced our tables:

Seafood Platter (pictured above):

Fresh Oysters: Brimming with the ocean’s essence, these oysters offered a taste of the sea’s finest.
Tuna Sashimi: Sliced to perfection, the tuna sashimi showcased the delicate flavours of premium-grade fish.
Snapper Sashimi: A delightful addition, the snapper sashimi contributed a unique texture and taste to the platter.
Salmon Sashimi: Featuring the ever-popular salmon, this sashimi added richness and colour to the seafood ensemble.

Vegetable Platter:

Grilled Asparagus: Delicately grilled, the asparagus brought a smoky flavour and crisp texture to the vegetable platter.
Cabbage: A versatile addition, the cabbage provided a fresh and crunchy element.
Grilled Aubergine: With a smoky undertone, the grilled aubergine added depth and richness to the platter.
Olive, Hummus, Beetroot Hummus, Pickled Vegetables: The assortment of olives, hummus variations, and pickled vegetables offered a medley of flavours, from earthy to tangy.

Cheese Board:

Variety of Cheeses: A cheese lover’s dream, the board featured a diverse selection of cheeses, each with its own distinct character.
Honeycomb: Adding a touch of sweetness, the honeycomb complemented the savory cheeses.
Pineapples, Grapes, Pistachio: The inclusion of fresh fruits and nuts enhanced the sensory experience, providing a mix of textures and tastes.

Bread Basket:

Sourdough with Seaweed Butter: The combination of sourdough and seaweed butter offered a unique twist on a classic pairing, showcasing Palmer’s creativity.

Lavosh Style Crackers:

These crisp and thin crackers, served lavosh style, provided a delightful crunch, and served as a perfect accompaniment to various dips and cheeses.

Charcuterie Board:

Salami, Prosciutto, Pickled Vegetables, Hummus, Fruit Jelly, Olives: The charcuterie board presented a symphony of flavours, from savory cured meats to the tang of pickled vegetables and the sweetness of fruit jelly.

Grilled Prawns:

Cooked to perfection, the grilled prawns highlighted the freshness of the seafood, enhanced by smoky grill marks.

Korean Style Chicken:

A fusion delight, the Korean-style chicken brought a spicy and savory kick, displaying Palmer’s versatility in global flavours.

Fried Polenta, Yuzu Aioli, Grana Padano, Chives:

This dish combined the creamy richness of fried polenta with the citrusy zing of yuzu aioli, topped with the umami notes of Grana Padano cheese and fresh chives.

Squid Potatoes (with what I believe is speck or bacon):

A tantalizing creation, the squid potatoes featured tender squid paired with the savory goodness of speck or bacon, offering a perfect blend of flavours.

Aperol Spritz and a variety of red and white wines:

To complement the culinary journey, Palmer curated a selection of beverages, including the classic Aperol Spritz and a diverse range of red and white wines.

Each dish at Palmer was a testament to culinary expertise, blending flavours, textures, and presentation to create a memorable dining experience. From the freshness of seafood to the creativity in plating, Palmer proved to be a gastronomic haven in the heart of the city.

    Oh! Oh! Can i have some of each please? Oh, I DO have to choose . . . cannot go past the seafood platter, can I . . . oh, even those prawns alone would do . . . the crackers seem special also . . . thank you!!!
