Sun, Surf, and Betty’s Burgers: A Perfect Day at Manly Beach

Manly Beach is a haven for sun-seekers, surfers, and anyone who loves a good burger. And when it comes to burgers, there’s one place that reigns supreme: Betty’s Burger. This Manly institution has been serving up juicy patties and crispy fries for years, and it’s easy to see why it’s a local favourite.

My love affair with Betty’s Burger began a while back, after a 10km walk from Spit Bridge to Manly with my colleagues. We were famished, and Betty’s hit the spot like a dream. This time around, I brought my loved ones to experience the same magic. We followed the same route, soaking up the sunshine and ocean views, and arrived at Betty’s ready to refuel.

From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by the infectious energy of the place. The 50s diner vibes, complete with pictures of Manly Beach on the walls, instantly transported us back in time. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, patiently explaining the menu options and making sure we felt at ease.

Speaking of the menu, it’s a burger lover’s paradise. There’s something for everyone, from classic cheeseburgers to more adventurous creations like the Noosa Classic Surf Burger with battered prawns. We decided to try a variety, opting for the Betty’s Deluxe, the Noosa Classic Surf, and the Crispy Chicken Supreme.

Cravings conquered after that nice walk, and this is what we devoured:

Betty’s Deluxe (AU$16.50): Angus beef, bacon, pickles, & Betty’s secret sauce magic

Noosa Classic Surf (AU$18.00): Angus & prawn party with a crispy batter twist!

Crispy Chicken Supreme (AU$16.50): Golden fried chicken & melty cheese – supreme indeed!

Fries (AU$5.50): The perfect crispy sidekick

Choco peanut butter shake (AU$8.00): Reese’s in a cup? Yes please!

Betty’s beer lager (AU$8.00): Cheers to seaside sips

Each burger was a masterpiece. The patties were juicy and flavourful, cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The Angus beef in the Betty’s Deluxe and Noosa Classic Surf was melt-in-your-mouth tender, while the chicken in the Crispy Chicken Supreme was crispy and golden. The toppings were fresh and generous, and the Betty’s special sauce added a tangy touch that tied everything together.

Fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and dusted with just the right amount of sea salt, they were the perfect accompaniment to the burgers. We also couldn’t resist sharing a Chocolate Peanut Butter Thick Shake, which was like a Reese’s milkshake come to life. Rich, decadent, and oh-so-satisfying, it was the perfect way to end our meal.

Betty’s Burger isn’t just about the food, though. It’s about the whole experience. The lively atmosphere, with its mix of dance pop music and retro vibes, is perfect for a fun night out. And the location, right near Manly Wharf, makes it a great spot to grab a bite before or after a day at the beach.

Whether you’re a local or just visiting Manly, Betty’s Burger is a must-try. It’s the perfect place to relax, refuel, and enjoy some seriously good food, it’s also a good place to people watch if you are into it. So, grab your swimsuit, your appetite, and head down to Manly Beach. You won’t regret it!

You can never beat a good burger and I love that nostalgic styling! I could totally see myself hanging out here with friends as a kid, or now, as an adult too.

  2. Well those burgers look absolutely delicious! I’ve never come across a beef and battered prawn burger, but I would love to try it. Now I’m craving a good burger….
