타파스바 / Tapas Bar Itaewon (Yongsan-gu, Seoul)
On one of our final days in Korea, we decided to visit Itaewon and explore one of the many bars. Our interest was piqued by Spanish cuisine, so we chose to dine at 타파스바 (Tapas Bar). Nestled in one of the narrow alleyways in Itaewon, this establishment exuded a cosy ambience, offering both indoor and outdoor seating, much like the neighbouring bars in the area.
It was quite lively when we arrived, with a considerable number of patrons outside, creating a bustling atmosphere.
As we weren’t particularly hungry, we decided to order only a Paella de Tomate (해산물 토마토 빠에야) and Croquetas de Pulpo con Patatas (감자문어 크로겟).
The Paella de Tomate turned out to be delightful, with a seafood flavour that wasn’t overpowering, allowing the prominent taste of tomato to shine through. The portion of seafood was well-balanced with the rice, making it a satisfying dish.
On the other hand, the Croquetas de Pulpo con Patatas provided a light, savoury experience, accompanied by a cheese dip on the side. While the taste didn’t quite match my expectations for a croquette, possibly due to the octopus inside, it reminded me more of Takoyaki. In the end, the bill totalled 23,400원 for the two dishes, which we found to be reasonably priced.
