After our short trip to Busan, we returned to Seoul and promptly met up with one of my university friends who kindly took us to a Korean barbecue place, as requested by my friends. Located in one of the alleyways in MyeongDong, we were greeted by the bright blue exterior, which had a spacious seating area inside, perfect for accommodating large groups.

The restaurant offered both an order-as-you-go option and an all-you-can-eat (무한리필 성인 1인) option, which cost us 19,800원 each. As usual, there were numerous side dishes available, including pre-cooked dishes like Bulgogi, Ddeokbokki, and fried finger foods like Gimmari. These were similar to what you’d find in New Zealand’s Korean BBQ buffets, so nothing particularly unique. For dessert, there were marshmallows and ice cream available.

However, when it came to the meat, there were plenty of options to choose from, including 정마호크 생갈비 (Pork Tomahawk), 시즈닝스테이크목살 (Seasoned Steak), 정년닭갈비 (Cheongyeon Dak-galbi), 속성눈꽃삼겹살 (Snowflake Matured Samgyeopsal), 정마호크 양념갈비 (Yangyeom Pork Tomahawk), 갈비양념목살 (Yangyeom Galbi Moksal), 화끈양념삼겹살 (Fiery Yangyeom Samgyeopsal), and 정년껍데기 (Cheongnyeon Ggupdaegi). There were also three types of lettuce available for making 쌈 (Ssam).

Since it was peak hour, the staff sometimes took their time restocking the meat, but overall, we ended up eating more than we could manage. It was a wonderful experience for us to finally try authentic Korean barbecue.
