Description

A flavourful side dish of charred cauliflower and green beans, sautéed with garlic, ginger, and sweet soy sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 small cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 200 g green beans, trimmed and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 spring onions, chopped
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 2 tbsp tamari (or regular soy sauce for a non-gluten-free option)
  • oil
  • salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a wok over high heat. Add the vegetable oil.
  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  3. Add the chopped spring onions and stir-fry for another 30 seconds.
  4. Add the cauliflower florets to the wok and stir-fry for about 2 minutes until they start to char and become tender.
  5. Add the green beans and continue to stir-fry for another 2 minutes or until the green beans are slightly charred and crisp-tender.
  6. Drizzle the kecap manis and tamari over the vegetables. Stir-fry for an additional 2 minutes, ensuring the sauces coat the vegetables evenly.
  7. Season with a pinch of salt and some freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  8. Remove from heat then serve.

  • OK! Love the idea - have tried before but both the cauli and beans have remained a bit too hard on the tooth! BUT, you do cut the cauli considerably smaller!! Kecap manis has been a buddy for decades but my trials with tamari - well, I have wanted more flavour! Shall sort the vegetables out first . . . then finesse the sauce! Thanks !!!
