New Zealand Natural at the Pacific Explorer

When it comes to indulging your sweet tooth, nothing quite hits the spot like a scoop of creamy, delectable ice cream. And what better place to savour this frozen delight than on the Pacific Explorer cruise ship? We stumbled upon a delightful ice cream haven called New Zealand Natural, and here’s why it’s a must-visit on your cruise adventure.

A Scoop of History: New Zealand Natural Ice Cream traces its origins back to a small ice creamery in Christchurch, New Zealand, established in 1984. From humble beginnings, it has grown to become a renowned brand, celebrated for its ice cream made with no artificial colours or flavours. You can find New Zealand Natural all over New Zealand and Australia, and lucky for us, it’s right here on the Pacific Explorer.

Endless Ice Cream Joy: While most cruise ship restaurants offer ice cream as part of your fare, it’s typically the standard flavours like chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. But if you’re craving something beyond the basics, then New Zealand Natural is your go-to spot. Located on the top deck, close to the inviting pools, this ice cream parlour has it all – scoops, sundaes, shakes, and even hot drinks. The flavour options are a dessert lover’s dream, and we couldn’t resist trying a couple.

Taste the Magic: We opted for the Cookies and Cream and Macadamia Supreme flavours, and let me tell you, they didn’t disappoint. The scoop prices may be a bit higher compared to what you’d find onshore, but the quality is worth every penny. A single scoop will set you back AU$5.95, while two scoops go for AUD7.95 and three for AUD9.95.

Macadamia Supreme: This flavour was a true gem. It struck the perfect balance between creamy and crunchy, and you could tell they didn’t hold back on the macadamia nuts. Each bite was a delightful blend of textures and flavours, making it an instant favourite.

Cookies and Cream: If you’re a fan of the classic cookies and cream combo, you’re in for a treat. The ice cream was generously studded with crunchy bits of chocolate cookies, creating a mouthwatering symphony of taste and texture. Every spoonful left us craving for more.

So, if you’re on a Pacific Explorer cruise and in the mood for some premium ice cream that goes beyond the ordinary, make a beeline for New Zealand Natural. It’s a cool oasis where you can savour award-winning ice cream that’s been winning hearts since 1984. Whether you’re enjoying the summer sun or simply seeking a sweet escape, this ice cream shop is a must-visit destination for all dessert enthusiasts.

We have a few places like this here, gelato and also ice cream with the local touch. Not for me though – I am on a low or no sugar diet.
