BBQ Noodles House is a popular Chinese restaurant located in Albany. The restaurant offers a wide variety of Chinese dishes, including barbecued meats, noodles, and seafood. We regularly visit BBQ Noodles House with either family or friends but what we usually order here are the roast pork, roast duck, or noodle soups, they prove to be good time and time again that is why we seldomly order the other dishes from the menu up until now.
This small place in Albany is a culinary gem from the crispy roast pork to the savory beef with black bean sauce, every dish we tried was a taste explosion that left us craving for more. Let me share my experience with you.
Crispy Roast Pork (1 portion for NZ$23), this dish is a must-try for all pork lovers out there. The pork was perfectly roasted to achieve that crispy outer layer while still being juicy and tender inside. It was served with a side of steamed bok choy and a dipping sauce that complemented the flavour of the pork.
Braised Hapuka with Roast Pork & Deep-Fried Tofu (NZ$30.00), this was an interesting dish that combined deep-fried tofu, roast pork, and braised hapuka fish. The dish had a mild yet delicious flavour that was well-balanced with the crispy texture of the tofu and the softness of the fish. One of my favourite dishes here.
Sweet and Sour Pork (NZ$20.00), the sweet and sour pork dish was nothing short of perfection. The pork was tender, and the sauce was the perfect combination of sweet and tangy. The addition of capsicum and pineapple added an extra layer of flavour to the dish.
Eggplant Pork Mince & Chinese Olive (NZ$23.80), this dish is a great option for those who love a bit of spice in their food. The eggplant was cooked to perfection, and the pork mince was well-seasoned. The Chinese olive added an unusual but delightful flavour that complemented the dish.
Smoked Meat with Round Bean (NZ$23.80), this dish was a standout for me. The meat was cooked in a smoky flavour that blended perfectly with the round beans. The sauce had a perfect consistency and tasted amazing with rice.
Beef with Black Bean Sauce (NZ$20.00), the beef with black bean sauce was a simple yet flavourful dish. The beef was tender and cooked to perfection, and the black bean sauce added a salty flavour that was balanced out with the sweetness of the onions.
Sago Pudding (Free), we ended our meal with a complimentary dessert of sago pudding, which was light and refreshing, a perfect way to end the feast. It tasted like the Filipino Ginataang Halo Halo so we really loved this freebie!
Overall, our dining experience at BBQ Noodles House was outstanding. The prices at BBQ Noodles House are reasonable. The dishes are priced between $15 and $30, which is in line with the prices of other Chinese restaurants in the area. While the place is quite small, you will feel this even more during peak hours, the restaurant is clean and well-maintained. The tables and chairs are clean, and the floors are swept and mopped regularly. The food at BBQ Noodles House is generally considered to be good. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients, and they are cooked to order. The flavours are authentic, and the portions are generous.
Overall, BBQ Noodles House is a good option for a delicious and affordable Chinese meal. The service is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the food is good.
