Chow Foo Restaurant (Albany, North Shore City, New Zealand)

When it comes to finding a great Chinese restaurant in Albany, look no further than Chow Foo. Located on Albany Highway, this big red restaurant is a local favourite. I recently had the pleasure of dining there and was thoroughly impressed with the authenticity of their cuisine and the top-notch service.

One of the standout dishes that I tried was the Beef Fried Noodles priced at NZ$23.00. The sauce on this dish was particularly tasty and paired perfectly with the crispy noodles. The beef was also very tender, making for a dish that was both flavourful and satisfying.

Another must-try dish at Chow Foo is the Peking Duck. The two-course meal starts with the duck pancakes, which had a nice crispy skin and moist tender meat. The stir-fried duck, made with fresh shiitake and bean sprouts, was the real star of the dish, with a delicious flavour and moistness that just melts in your mouth. Although the presentation of the Peking Duck might not be for everyone (head included), the quality of the dish more than makes up for any appearance concerns. And at NZ$75.00, it’s a reasonable price for such a delicious and satisfying meal.

Aside from the food, I must commend the friendly and lively service we received from our server, who recommended dishes for our table and made the experience even more entertaining. The restaurant itself is quite large, with plenty of seating, and kept very clean.

Overall, if you’re on the hunt for a great Chinese restaurant in Albany, Chow Foo is definitely worth checking out. The Beef Fried Noodles and Peking Duck are both must-try dishes, and with their friendly service and spacious, clean restaurant, it’s easy to see why this spot is such a hit with locals.
