One of the unique features of Japanese Marinated Mushrooms is the use of different types of mushrooms, which adds a variety of textures and flavours to the dish. In our post today I used only Shiitake and Enoki, but you can mix and match these with the addition of King Oyster, and Shimeji mushrooms, just experiment with different types of mushrooms to suit your taste.
This dish is a good source of nutrition, as mushrooms are known to be low in calories and high in nutrients such as fibre, vitamins, and minerals. The dashi stock, which is a type of Japanese soup stock made from fish, seaweed, or mushrooms, adds a savory umami flavour to the dish.
Japanese Marinated Mushrooms are easy to prepare and can be served as a small side dish or added to a bento box as a snack. They can also be frozen and reheated, making them a convenient dish for busy people. Whether you are a mushroom lover or new to this ingredient, this dish is worth trying for its unique Japanese flavour and health benefits.

We are huge mushroom fans — and just had a shiitake-bok choy stir fry. I can’t wait to make this — our Asian grocery store has so many good mushrooms!
Living in Australia we are so fortunate to have wide access to Asian mushrooms – yours is such an easy way to make them even more attractive – shall try soonest !
I do like playing around with different types of mushrooms, but they can be a bit difficult to find unless you have a large wallet. I’m not sure I’ve even come across enoki or shimeji mushrooms…I’ll have to keep an eye out!
So simple yet so good! I miss enoki..used to love them in hot pot dinner :-))
Ohhh, these look so good!

Enoki is hard to come by here, and if they are available theybare quite pricey

Yeah even here enoki is elusive
Wonderful! I love that the mushrooms are sautéed first – thing must intensity their flavour. And the marinade sounds interesting, too!
