Utan ng Langka is a delicious and traditional Filipino dish made with young jackfruit, cooked in creamy coconut milk and fragrant malunggay or bago leaves.

Hello everyone! I am excited to share with you a vegetable dish that has been a staple in Visayan households for generations – Utan ng Langka. This dish is a variety of Ginataang Langka, well-known Filipino dish that uses young jackfruit as its main ingredient.

Ginataang Langka is a classic Filipino dish that combines the sweetness of young jackfruit with the richness of coconut milk and a variety of spices, creating a delicious and nutritious meal. Utan ng Langka, on the other hand, is a version of this dish that’s cooked with malunggay leaves or sometimes bago leaves, adding a unique flavour to the dish.

Utan ng Langka is a comforting and hearty dish that’s perfect to pair with grilled or fried dishes like fish or pork. The combination of young jackfruit and coconut milk creates a rich and creamy texture that’s both satisfying and healthy. Jackfruit is a nutrient-dense fruit that’s packed with vitamins A and C, as well as fibre, which is essential for good digestion and can help prevent constipation. Meanwhile, coconut milk, which serves as the base of the dish, is known for its many health benefits, including its ability to improve heart health and reduce inflammation.

If you’re a fan of traditional Filipino cuisine, then you definitely have to try Utan ng Langka. This dish is not only delicious but also nutritious, making it an ideal addition to any meal of the day. It’s a must-try for anyone who wants to explore the rich flavours of Filipino cuisine.

So, there you have it – a delicious and comforting vegetable dish that’s been enjoyed by Filipinos for generations. I highly recommend trying out this dish for yourself and experiencing the unique flavours and health benefits of Utan ng Langka.
