Full flavoured mango bread, a definite must for mango lovers. Mango Bread is a type of sweet bread made with fresh mangoes, dried mangoes, walnuts and cinnamon.

Mangoes is my favourite fruit, if I can put it in anything I would, but not all mangoes are created equal definitely the best ones are the ones from the Philippines. Champagne Mango or Carabao Mango is the cultivar and this types of mango is one of the sweetest variety, it also has a velvety smooth texture with almost no fibres. Back in the Philippines we have this on a regular basis but moving to New Zealand its very rare to have them, first it is imported on a seasonal basis, they are quite expensive at cheapest its NZ$5.00 a pop and if it is in the country they sell out really fast, luckily I got hold of them recently and made this recipe.

This mango bread is similar to any sweet breads and most closely related to fruit breads like banana bread , a simple recipe that brings Philippine mangoes, dried mangoes, cinnamon, and walnuts into perfect harmony. Quite a most bread, no kneading needed or waiting for the dough to rise, all you need to do is mix then bake and what awaits you is the most mangoey bread you will ever try. While it’s tempting to eat them just right after baking, it is best to let it stay for a couple of days before devouring them as it gets better day by day, the flavours just intensifies. It’s great to serve with tea or coffee for a nice snack!

Dry Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Other Ingredients

  • 2 cups diced Philippine mangoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried mangoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts


  1. Sift together dry ingredients into a bowl, set it aside
  2. Whisk all wet ingredients together until evenly combined.
  3. Pour mixture into the bowl of the sifted dry ingredients then mix well.
  4. Fold the remaining ingredients until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour mixture into lightly greased loaf pans then bake in a 175C preheated oven for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Let it cool before slicing then serve.
