BBQ Duck Cafe Queen Street (Auckland CBD, Auckland, New Zealand)
This is our third time at this restaurant but in different places, I am not sure if they are one brand but looks like they have the same name and branding, so I consider them to be. The usual ones that we go to was their branch at High Street, we also tried their branch new Aotea Square and for our post today, it will be our first time here and I can say this is the biggest place they have and it looks like it’s the cleanest of them all.
It’s just a few meters away from Queen St, just turn at the alley where New World is, tucked near Mills Lane and Swanson Street it is a big place you won’t miss. We came here for one of our office lunches and took advantage of their lunch special meant for 2 people and above, it’s a combo deal for NZ$18.50 where you are served with any 2 choices of BBQ Meat, Sweet and Sour Pork, Vegetables in Oyster Sauce, Rice and Soup of the Day, it’s definitely a good deal we don’t want to miss. For the BBQ Meat there are several options where BBQ Duck Cafe is popular for, the Roast Pork, BBQ Pork, Soy Chicken, Roast Duck and Roast Chicken, we chose the Duck and Roast Pork.
As far as the order is concerned, everything was good, is the same quality you get from other BBQ Duck Cafes, skin is crisp, meat is tender and juicy. Duck was quite tasty and the sauce that is drizzled on it was really nice. I just noticed they serve less meat than the other BBQ Duck Cafes, or it might be just the lunch special.
The sweet and sour was good too, even though it was drenched in sauce, it still retained its crispiness. The vegetables were cooked to perfection as well, still crisp and the oyster sauce that came with it gave it a really nice contrast in flavours. If there is one things I would change in this order, it would be the soup, not as tasty as I expected not enough meat as well but it’s just me comparing the soup offered at Golden Century restaurant which was one of the best free soups you can have, sadly they are closed now.
Overall, this was quite a deal, it was priced well, serving sizes were ample. Service was also quick, and the place is way much bigger than the other ones, so you don’t have to worry with people bumping your seats as you enjoy your delicious meal.

wow that bbq duck looks amazing!
The roast pork looks good, the duck’s not quite like Peking with the thin crispy skin. I had sweet and sour in my blogpost too, what a coincidence! Check out today’s post to see where you can get noodles from here…in Auckland!!!
Certainly looks like a feast! Of course I find myself most drawn to the sides, no surprise there.
