Camaron Rellenado is a Filipino Chinese dish of minced pork stuffed with large prawns in the middle then deep fried.


Units Scale

Minced Meat Mixture

  • 500 g minced pork, 30% fat
  • 1/2 cup crab meat or minced prawns
  • 2 pcs dried shiitake mushrooms, rehydrated and finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 stalk spring onions, minced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp ground white pepper
  • 1 tsp salt


  • 12 pieces large prawns, shelled and deveined, tail-on
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • salt



  1. In a bowl combine all Minced Meat Mixture together, mix well.
  2. Place flour in a plate, dredge the prawn in into the flour, coating its surface, grab a spoonful of the meat mixture, form it into a flat disc then place a prawn in the middle, fold the minced meat mixture and tightly and thinly cover the prawns with it leaving only the tails exposed.
  3. Combine beaten eggs and salt in a bowl.
  4. Place panko bread crumbs in a plate.
  5. Dip prepared prawn in the beaten mixture then into the breadcrumbs. Set it aside then continue the process for remaining prawns.
  6. Cook in a 180C heated oil in a deep fryer or wok then deep fry until cooked and golden brown around 8 to 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from fryer, drain off excess oil then serve.
