Malaysian Noodles (Henderson, Waitakere, New Zealand)
Malaysian Noodles was quite a popular stall during its Food Alley days in the CBD but sadly that place was closed and restaurants had to move out, luckily it moved near to where we live and since most of my working days are spent at home, it’s good that it found its new location, in fact that was a nice move since many Aucklanders now work from home. I had tried them before during their Food Alley days, and like most I loved it, but how does the newer place fare?
Malaysian Noodles from my opinion is in a much better place, gone are those days that are muggy, dark, and sometimes dirty Food Alley, the new Malaysian Noodles is bright and clean. Still operated by the same people which means you still get that same friendly gesture as you order. The place is smaller, but I still prefer it as sometimes that Food Alley feels cramped.
During my last visit, I ordered the items I usually grab from them before, the Nasi Lemak and Fried Kway Teaw.
The Nasi Lemak (NZ$17.00) I chose was the chicken one, and as expected, it still has that same quality I got used to. Serving size was quite large and the chicken curry contained at least five pieces of chicken meat. It was also served with some side salad, half boiled egg, curried vegetables, peanut, and fried anchovies. It was good and very filling, not too spicy. It’s a perfect balanced and complete meal, you won’t regret this one.
Next was this Fried Kway Teaw (NZ$15.00), again serving size was huge, in fact we have to take home half of it. It was certainly the one of the best Kway Teaw I tried in Auckland, not to salty, slightly spicy, and sweet, plus you can taste that char taste kway teaw if known for. It has a lot of meat on it unlike most where you will be overloaded with just noodles and bean sprouts.
We did not grab some drinks this time as the meals was quite hefty, there was no more room for their bubble tea which I haven’t tried yet. Overall we were quite happy, the service was still the same, the quality was still the same, but the place is way much better now.

That looks like a really delicious meal..I haven’t had any fried rice noodles in ages…kinda miss them!
WOW ,those choices so good. I want to live close to these restaurant too.
I wonder if my brother in Auckland knows of this place – looks good. Prices are quite standard, I guess – he did tell me about paying NZD15 for a bowl of Sarawak laksa there!
Awesome that you found another bubble tea place near your house – you’ll have to check it out soon! That plate looks delicious, and I really like the way they served that rice. It seems silly, but the presentation makes a huge difference!
