Caramelized Patis Wings is a Filipino inspired dish of chicken wings cooked in a mixture of honey, fish sauce and lemon until it caramelizes.
Chicken wings are such a versatile ingredient you can cook it in many ways like Buffalo Wings, Maple Bacon, Chinese five spice and Parmesan Garlic, the possibilities are endless and you are just limited by our imagination. Today what our imagination had brought to us is to make a Filipino style chicken wing and what’s best to do that is by infusing it with a Filipino condiment that most Filipinos can’t live without, the Patis (fish sauce). Fish sauce is quite common in Filipino dishes, it is used to season our dishes, and if it’s not enough we serve it on the side so we can put drops of patis on what we are eating to enhance the flavour experience. Same goes with this recipe, what we done here is to serve chicken wings in a caramelized sauce made with honey and patis, which we then infused with chillies to give it nice zing and lemon to bring out the flavours and some freshness, the result is honest to goodness, finger licking, tasty to the bone, easy to make chicken wing dish.
They look fingerlickingly good 🙂 Honey and fish sauce are a great combo of flavours. I am having some crunchy pork belly for the breakfast :-)) Seriously addictive to the stuff.. LOL
crunchy pork belly anytime of the day for me 🙂
I do love chicken wings, but I can’t say I’ve ever had Filipino style chicken wings. These look delicious, Raymund!
Now that’s a different spin on chicken wings with a fun, savory twist! I’d love to try this on cauliflower “wings” next time. 😉
That cauliflower wings sounds like a great idea, do you have a recipe for it? I made something similar before called Coliflor Rebozada and it was amazing
Love that this uses honey! Terrific combo with fish sauce. Neat recipe — and a different flavor than I’m used to with wings. Thanks!
These look incredible! I’m intrigued by fish sauce and honey together. Thanks for the recipe!
I’ll have two orders and a cold beer, please! Your wings look and I know taste great.
They look like a party in the mouth!
These sound so much better to me than the American-style wings. Fish sauce is definitely an underutilized flavoring!
Looks good. I wouldn’t mind those in a slightly darker shade though.
