The Grill at Amora (Auckland CBD, New Zealand)
The last few reviews we had, I mentioned we had a staycation after our lockdown was lifted, we were itching to go somewhere just to be out of the house, and since we cannot go overseas yet our next best option is to travel within our city, hence we did this. Amora was our choice for our stay, it was inexpensive, and the rooms are bigger than most hotels here, and as an added bonus we have a good view of the Auckland CBD from our room. It’s not your Hilton, Sheraton or Sofitel but it was a decent and really clean place best of all it is highly rated by most visitors, a rating of 4 out of 5 from nearly 1K reviewers in Expedia and 8.2 out of 10 from 1.6K reviewers in Booking.com can’t be wrong.
Amora Hotel is conveniently located in Auckland CBD and in a few minutes, you are in the heart of the city so you can enjoy shopping and the entertainment areas nearby. Each room at this hotel offers a kitchenette, washing machine/dryer and a private balcony and rooms feature a spa bath with wooden shutters that open out onto the main room. It’s not located right smack in the middle of the CBD so expect a quiet night but don’t get me wrong, with just a 10-minute slow stroll you will find yourself easily in Aotea Square.
Hotel offers breakfast, while it’s not your typical buffet the serving size was enough to feed one hungry person, located in the lobby overlooking Myers park, it’s a nice spot to start your day. There are several options to choose from and its included with your stay, so regardless you grabbed the most expensive one. What we grabbed are some Eggs Benedict, a typical Kiwi breakfast served with two English muffins, a good amount of bacon, two poached eggs topped with some Hollandaise sauce. Picture might not do justice on this dish, but it was good and like I said the portions was huge.
For the other breakfast we grabbed their Full Breakfast which consists of, two pieces of bread (hidden in that plate), two uber crunchy hash browns, two eggs (your choice how its cooked), a good amount of bacon, two sausages, tomato and mushrooms. This was a hefty breakfast, you really need to be hungry to finish this, it’s even a good hang over cure if you had a long night.
Everything on both breakfasts was cooked the way we liked it, I know these are just bacon and eggs, but those things can be prepared wrongly as well, this one did not. Service was fantastic, whenever we stand up and get something, the waiter asks us what we want and if it’s from their service, you will be politely asked to sit down, and he will gladly help you. And did I mention coffee and hot chocolate is unlimited.
So there you go, I know it’s not a fancy breakfast or any special one, what made this special is the service of their staff and the nice view of that park complete with tweeting and singing birds as you start your day.

Eggs, bacon and sausage…I think I can live with this breakfast for good 🙂 Ok, maybe 2 more eggs…I usually have 4-6 eggs :-))
