Baked with Love (Taupo, New Zealand)

The last time we were in Taupo we discovered this bakery goodies from Baked with Love in a weekend market, the stall was very visual and attracts quite a lot of people as they have some vibrant treats on showcase. We got hooked just by the looks of those baked treats, it’s so inviting. It’s just a simple stall with a back backdrop and a showcase of their offerings but later found out that they have a shop in Gascoigne Street which is one small block away from PAKn’SAVE Taupo, so you if you plan to buy some of their treats and there are no market days then this is your best bet.

They sell basically most of the usual baked goods like savoury scones, brioche, sandwiches, tarts, loaves and muffins. They also have an array of the sweet stuff like doughnuts, slices, cakes, cheesecakes, cupcakes and macarons. We were specifically attracted to the doughnuts (NZ$7.00) and what they had on offer during that day was Salted Caramel & Cream, Chocolate & Custard, Berry & Cream and Lemon Curd & Cream. We grabbed three of them basically all except for the Lemon Curd & Cream.

When it was handed over to us, I know this would be good as they have a good weight on them. It was large but not excessively huge, it was heavy because it was dense plus the filling was quite generous too. Dough was perfect, it’s like those Hawaiian Malasadas, doughy but soft and pillowy, slightly chewy in a good way and it’s not too overly sweet, even though the filling was lavish. It was one hell of serious doughnut, I will go back to Taupo just for this one.

Sadly we did not try the other offerings which I hope we will do in the future. I specially want to try those brownies and quiches which I think will taste amazing too. So there you go, till next time we are here.
