Terraces (Gold Coast, Australia)
Nowadays travel seem to be a distant memory, until all of this virus clears up then all we have to do is watch, read and dream about it for a few more months. This post for today is my last travel overseas, it was in Gold Coast last November, it was one of our company’s IT conference and it was the best one we had.
For the whole three days we stayed in Sheraton Mirage Resort & Spa Gold Coast and it was such an amazing place and venue, with waters surrounding the property, beach is just a stone throw away, a mall in front plus a short walk to Sea World while being separated from the busy crowd of Gold Coast this was the perfect venue for work and even for families. But I am not writing this piece to review the venue, I am sharing you my review the of food, more specifically the ones they serve in the Terraces restaurant.
Every day was a buffet, breakfast and lunch at least. You may say it’s another buffet but there is something exciting in here, at least for me. You what? It is a seafood buffet, and for a seafood lover like me, this is like a piece of heaven on earth. Quality of food was amazing, they are carefully selected Australian produce, fresh seafood including oysters and prawns; freshly baked bread and pastries; comforting roasts and a delectable range of desserts are just some of the options on display at the buffet. If you booked a stay with them and included dining options then great for you, but if not weekday prices for Breakfast Buffet is AU$43.00 and Lunch Buffet at AU$69.00 and trust me the lunch option at that price is a steal.
So what will you get on that seafood buffet?
In the cold selection you have Mooloolabah King Prawns (Seasonal availability), Exmouth Tiger Prawns (Seasonal availability), Chilled cooked Australian crab, Pacific and Sydney rock oysters (Seasonal availability), Tasmanian smoked salmon, Pickled Herring marinated with yoghurt and red apple, Smoked Sardines and Selection of sushi with traditional accompaniments. This was just the ones I tried but there are many more to select from.
For the hot selection you have the Soup of the day, two types roast meats, steamed and roasted vegetables, Wok fried squid with Asian greens and XO dressing, Steamed/grilled fresh fish of the day and mussels. Again these are the ones I had, so I guess menu changes based on season.
And for dessert there is a selection of traditional and contemporary desserts like gateaux, pavlovas, pannacotta, mousse, creme brulee, fruit slices and tarts. There is also a selection of ice creams with sweet treat toppings.
Breakfast is not that bad either, good selection of breakfast bread and the usual bacon, mushroom and eggs but one thing to note is that they have this make your own Japanese noodle station plus a selection of dimsum and a doughnut wall!
Food was great, everything was amazing even down to the smallest items like smoked sardines and spring rolls. Located in a nice lobby with a view to die for, this is the place I wanna go back when things get normal again but for now, I will just reminisce on the good experience I had at this place.
