24 “Tipid Meals” to cook during Pandemic Outbreak like Coronavirus

Dishes 1 to 12

Anything GinilingGiniling, Picadillo de Chayote, Picadillo or Menudong Giniling, the more potatoes or chayote the better, the minced meat will just give the flavour and let the vegetables deliver the nutrition. Other ingredients such as raisins and bell pepper are all optional.

Fried Rice – Rice can be boring so if you add a little bit of flavour like this Tinapa Fried Rice or Bagoong Fried Rice, it can be way much better plus there is no need for ulam.

Sinabawang Talbos ng Kamote 1

Vegetable Soup – I grew up with this because we have a small vegetable patch in our backyard, dishes like Sinabawang Talbos ng Kamote, Hinanggup or Dinengdeng can save your day.

Corned Beef Hash

Corned Beef Hash – A small can of corned beef can go a long way, just add tons of potatoes and onions.

Sardines with Misua 1

Misua – This humble flour noodle can save your hunger just add some canned sardines, vegetables and/or buto-buto. Recipes like Sardines with Misua, Sardines and Upo Misua, Sardines with Misua and Patola or Sopas ala Pobre can be your next dinner.

Tomato Sauce Spaghetti 1

Tomato Sauce Spaghetti – Super tipid mode but want to have some pasta, just add some tomatoes like how the Italians do it.

Goto (Ox Tripe Porridge) 1

Rice Soup – In the form of Goto or Arrozcaldo has been feeding the impoverished for many centuries. You just need a small amount of rice plus a small amount of protein with tons of water and patis of course.

Pancit Puti 1

Noodles – Pancit Canton, Pancit Bihon, Miki Bihon or Pancit Sotanghon but make sure it has more noodles than sahog, it’s like having a budget birthday party every time

Ginataang Tulingan 1

Ginataang Isda – Usually this is cooked with Tulingan or Tilapia but I had tried the canned mackerel in just oil, it’s equally as delicious. Make sure don’t forget the chillies.

Fried Galunggong – No brainer on this one, galunggong is one of the cheapest fish back home. This was one of the dishes I grew up with.

Tinolang Shell Fish 1

Tinolang Tahong or Tinolang Halaan – Just avoid red-tide then you’re all good, another classic dish that is not just budget friendly they are tasty too.

Sopas – Who does not want sopas, come on! This can be prepared on the cheap, just use a small amount of chicken and evaporated milk with tons of macaroni.
