Espresso House (Crown Seaways, DFDS)
If you happen to be crossing the Kattegat from Copenhagen to Oslo and you are on board the Crown Seaways where you suddenly crave for a Frappe or a good coffee then don’t worry you are sorted as there is a nice coffee place I wanted to mention, the Espresso House inside DFDS Crown Seaways. Located in Deck 7 (I think) in the starboard side near the aft just after the shops, it’s a small stall but with ample seat with nice views.
IF you are not cruising don’t worry as Espresso House can be found everywhere in the Nordic countries as it is largest coffeehouse chain in that region where there are around 460 shops throughout Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Germany. It has been in the business for 23 years as of this writing, started as a small cafe inspired by both the Italian coffee culture and the American coffee tradition hence its quite comparable to Starbucks.
This was our coffee fix when we did the crossing, but it was also our snack nook as they offer quite affordable selection of sandwiches and pastries if you compare it to other cruise lines as well as the whole of the Nordic region. Having said that the quality was great as well, coffee was nice, and the pastries tasted freshly made. We tried several offerings like their coffee, Frapino and cold drinks, we even tried their Matcha latte and they were all spot on.
We are so happy with this place, service was good, barista made that coffee real well and as mentioned its quite affordable which is important especially when you are travelling and in a cruise ship.
