Airline Food – Cathay Pacific 2019
I think I mentioned last year this airline was our most used airline in most of our personal trips, I guess I had used them for more than 40 times since the early 2000’s. They have competitive rates; the planes are clean, and the service is good, and the food is great hence it is one of our first options when it comes to flying. Once again, we had another opportunity to fly with them, this time on our way to Zurich so it was a long ride, 24 hours each way and it involved four aircrafts to and from our destination.
Our review for Airline Food will sort of change from now on by adding a year on its review since I travel a lot plus the plane service changes regularly, so down the track if you find this article you will know it will be relevant to that year only.
Let’s start. Our flight to and from Zurich as mentioned was long, 4 flights at least 12 hours on each leg, 4 planes, two stop overs in Hong Kong, this means we will be eating a lot. That means we will have 4 breakfasts, 4 snacks, 2 dinners and 2 lunches with them and here is what we had.

I told you there’s a loft of food involved but was it all good? Yes, they do, above average compared to other airlines. I like the fact that they serve Hong Kong flavours and as an Asian this is a good thing for me. I never thought congee and cup noodles will be served on planes, but they do it in Cathay which I liked very much. To add to that you can have your cup noodles at any time.
My favourite was the Baked chicken and pumpkin with black pepper sauce as well as the Prawn and mushroom congee, both tasted like home cooking. I also loved the side salads, very interesting flavours. Finally, the Movenpick ice creams, a nice way to finish off the meal.
Again, Cathay Pacific did not let us down, great food, great service, we never ran out of options even we were on the last row of the plane.
