Sankai (Brisbane, Australia)
There are many restaurants to conquer in Brisbane’s South Bank, I may have tried a lot, but I had barely scratched the surface, this place is huge and has a lot to offer. My latest adventure was with this Japanese restaurant just in Grey Street, the ramen poster outside just called me one lunch time and since then I tried two of their offerings.
First was the Tonkotsu Ramen, I am not exactly sure what’s the full name of this dish, but I remember it was their special on that day. Served with the usual chashu pork kamaboko, bamboo shoots, seaweeds in a milky rich pork bone broth. Texture of the noodles was amazing, and the broth was rich but not overpowering. I can say this is so comparable to the best ramens I tried in my life.
I also did try the Katsu Curry where I chose pork as my meat. Served in a nice Japanese curry in a steamed rice. It was so crispy, and meat was so tender and juicy, it’s one of those dishes that you can’t get enough of. Very filling, full of umami and flavours.
And of course, the best way to down those wonderful dishes is by Ramune which I initially discovered in Las Vegas, a type of Japanese carbonated lemonade that is light and just enough to cleanse those palate.
I still have to try a lot of their offering, specially that bento box which whispered to my ear to go back here again.
