Otto’s Mediterranean Kitchen (North Shore City, New Zealand)

I love the little eateries at Takapuna eating precinct Fortieth & Hurstmere, so far, we have tried Poke Poke, Burger Burger, Bird on a Wire and the latest one which is Otto’s Mediterranean Kitchen. We are halfway on trying them all and only got 3 left on the list, so far everything was a good experience, food was all delicious.

As the name suggests Otto’s Mediterranean Kitchen serves dishes from Cypriot and Turkish cuisine, of course with a touch of Kiwi where they offer a range of very healthy options like salads, wraps, grilled meats and vegan options which you can order starting from breakfast up until dinner. Like Poke Poke menu is quite simple you just pick your option Meal or Wrap, then your protein and if its a meal you then select your sauce, two dips, two salad or swap one salad to jasmine rice. That simple.

We ordered three different things when we visited the place, two were meals (NZ$16.00) and one was a wrap (NZ$13.50). For the meals we grabbed one Chicken Souvlaki and Beef Kofta where the salads of choice were Jasmine Rice and Hellenic Slaw and Sesame for the Chicken then the Orange, Apricot, Mint Quinoa, Almond Nut and Roasted Squash Chickpea for the beef.

Dips of choice was Hummus Royale with Toasted Chickpeas, Labneh with Zaatar Pistachio and Babaganush. For the wrap we got the Souvlaki Beef wrapped in Greek pita with sauce pickled red cabbage onions and seasonal salad. For dessert we grabbed the luscious Baklava cake with pistachio, walnuts and almonds (NZ$6.50). The food was amazing, extremely tasty from the dips to salads and the meat, all blends well together, everything was perfectly seasoned, certainly an explosion of great flavours in one bite.

Like most stalls in Fortieth & Hurstmere the restaurant is small but there is an ample shared seating options available on either side of the place, and most of the time there are lots of spaces to choose from.
