Hakataya Ramen (Brisbane, Australia)
Just writing up a small review for this place because it reminds me of the many ramen we tried on our last Japan vacation but even better, read more to find out why.
When I travel to Brisbane I usually arrive in the evening and sometimes that poses an issue specially when I am hungry for dinner as most of the shops close early in Brisbane on weekdays plus my accommodation of choice 30-minute walk to the CBD, usually it was a struggle to find something so I do sometimes resort to eating at fast food until recently I discovered this place Hakataya Ramen.
It’s like most Japanese ramen place in Japan, they just sell few options of ramen and gyoza, but there is something special on this one they serve it with tons of meat which was my issue when I was in Japan where they only serve most ramens with two thin slices of chashu . At Hakataya Ramen the slices are thicker and the most basic one you get at least three slices.
Now for the one I ordered I got six slices of chashu, that is generous! I grabbed this Chashu Men (AU$16.00) which is basically pork ramen seasoned with soy sauce served with extra pork, twice the amount of their normal one. This is good if you love ramen at the same time want some good serving of meat. The soup was very tasty, noodles were cooked perfectly, meat was very tender, it was one delicious ramen. Definitely the next time I am back I have a place to have my hunger fixed and this is it.
