Copycat Razon’s Halo Halo is a dessert drink similar to Halo Halo but only using three ingredients sweetened banana, macapuno and leche flan served on a finer shaved milk ice.
The last time I was in the Philippines was last year but before that it was 2003 and from that time to 2018 a lot has changed specially in term of food that is available, a lot of the traditional stuff was spinned off to make another creation like this Halo Halo. Before 2018 I was just wondering what is this Razon’s Halo Halo and why do people rave about it? So during my last visit I made sure I tried them.
Razon’s Halo Halo is a very popular Kapampangan treat which came into Metro Manila in 2003, the time I left. Same concept as the halo halo but instead of the usual smorgasbord of flavourings the traditional Halo-Halo has Razon’s version only consist of sweetened bananas, macapuno and leche flan but what sets it apart is the finer textured ice that is used, which is similar to the shaved ice you get in Korean Bingsu. I know it’s hard to replicate the texture at home specially if you don’t have the shaved ice maker the next best this is just to use the ice crusher.

Still prefer the traditional Halo Halo with red beans, sweetened garbanzos (chick peas), red gulaman, pinipig (crispy rice), macapuno (young coconut), ube (purple yam) and leche flan and/or topped with ice cream if it’s so hot & humid like here in Northern Virginia. So, quickly order that Shaved Ice Maker from Amazon.
I agree with @Gina…I also tried Razon’s halo halo before and believe me…I had the most disappointing experience having it. I never went back to Razon’s ever since and even had it known by the crew around hoping it reaches the management. The money I paid for wasn’t worth the halo-halo they served.
