Hansik (Auckland CBD, New Zealand)

I am surprised how many hidden wonders do we have here in Auckland, for such a small city there are many places I still yet to discover and try, take this place for example. I would not ever in my whole life would have visited this unless one of my friends told me to lunch out with him at this place.

Located in the middle of Drake St, I never knew there were restaurants here, what’s even better it is a great restaurant, good food and I love the feel of the place, its cosy, great reuse of an old bricks and wood building.

At first when you enter you will think the place looks expensive but after the menu is handed out you will be surprised on how affordable they were, we came here at lunch time and the prices range from NZ$10.00 to a maximum of $25.00 for a set meal, mostly averaging NZ$15 to NZ$18.00.

This was my second time here and at this moment we ordered three different items starting from the Stone Pot Bibimbap NZ$18.00, steamed rice in earth stone with spinach, cabbage, zucchini, bean sprout, mushroom, kimchi, egg yolk and beef served with miso soup, kimchi, renkon and macaroni salad.

Next was this Marinated Beef on Sizzling Plate NZ$15.00, a Pan-fried marinated beef dish served on a bed of rice on a sizzling plate served with miso soup, kimchi, renkon and macaroni salad.

And finally, my favourite on their lunch menu, this was my order on my first dining experience here, the Marinated Spicy Pork Set NZ$18.50, Pan fried spicy chilli paste marinated pork with vegetables served with fried chicken, green salad, sliced marinated egg, kimchi, renkon, macaroni salad, miso soup and rice.

Overall, I love it, the place is quite impressive, very clean and has that cosy feel.

Food was simple yet great, I love the additional small things served on the side which gives a great variety.

So yummy! I read your post everday and I think I am subscribed too! If ever you are in Melbourne Australia, you can try also Tuan Tuan Chinese Brasserie. This is franchise from Manila and owned by my brother. He opened 6 branches already in Manila and the Melbourne opened last year. Try it and make your comment too! Thanks for all your recipes!
