Food Truck Garage (Auckland CBD, New Zealand)

At least four times a week I pass by this place as we walk or sometimes jog from Office to Victoria Park to play touch rugby twice a week, one for a social game and another one for the league game and either way it is tormenting because our games are usually at 12 noon. Smelling that amazing burger scent makes you feel hungry on the way to the game and even punishing after the game as we are rushing back to work no time to order one. Every time I pass by it, I swore to myself, one day I will be the one looking at those running to Victoria Park while having my delicious burger.

That day I mentioned had come, it was quite late but still better than never, it was my first time here and already loving it, simple options on the menu which is less stress when choosing what to eat. So without thinking twice I ordered some classic burgers in the name of Big daddy (NZ$23.00), a beefroot patty, Aztec spiced chicken fillet, free range bacon, grilled cheese, lettuce, tomato, b&b pickles & Awesome sauce loaded into a kumara brioche.

First time to try this beefroot which is a beef patty which contains 60% “single-sourced Hamilton rump” and the rest is beetroot, honestly you won’t even realize there are beets on it, it tastes like a normal patty but juicer and way much tender, it was great. This patty made the burger easy to eat, even it looks hefty with the chicken and bacon.

Then I also grabbed some soft tacos called Aztec Chicken (NZ$17.00), made with Two soft flour tortillas with Aztec spiced chicken,
tomato kasundi, lettuce, sweetcorn, pico de gallo & chipotle yoghurt. Again, another great food, well balanced flavours, nice spice, light yet fulfilling.

And for our drink we grabbed some Thick Shakes (NZ$11.00) organic Lewis Road Creamery milk, hand scooped artisan ice-cream and home-made sauces topped with vanilla whipped cream. I grabbed the salted caramel for the perfect combination of salty and sour creamy dessert drink, perfect on that hot day.

I love this place, its chic, its hip, ambiance is great, food is amazing! I will be back.
