As a child I hated broccoli, I guess everyone does when they are young, these green tree like vegetable is bitter to the undeveloped taste buds of the young ones but as you grow older you try to appreciate it and some start loving it like me. Honestly this is one of the best vegetables for meat eater, it has that chunky texture and nutty flavour that is quite hard to find on other vegetables. On its own it may taste very basic but with the proper seasoning it can be really wonderful. Butter goes well with it, olive oil and lemon makes it a bit fresh tasting, creamy sauce makes your kids love it, oyster sauce is how Asians prepare them but have you tried it with sesame oil? If not give it a shot, and that’s what we’re doing today, which makes it really tasty and nutty.
- Cook broccoli in boiling water to your liking, I like mine crunchy so I cook them around 4-5 minutes. Remove from boiling water then rinse in running cold water to stop it from cooking.
- In a pan add sesame oil and garlic, cook in low heat until garlic sizzles. Add the broccoli and sesame seeds, toss until broccoli is heated through.
- Remove from pan place in serving platter then drizzle soy sauce on top. Serve.
