Blue 9 Beach Bar and Grill (Bali, Indonesia)

This place is one of the places you need to hangout in Bali if you are waiting for the sunset, a very nice place to chill and relax while waiting for the sun to touch hat blue Indian Ocean while having some local treats and a bottle of ice cold Bintang on one hand.

They have the facilities for you to easily relax, soak in the sun and let the time wind down, from beach lounges to bean bag complete with beach umbrella.

We came in here a couple of hours before sun down, around 3:30 PM so that we reserve a good spot, I suggest you do that too. From there we just relaxed while being pampered by the walking masseuse which offered services like hair braiding, foot massage, head and back massage as well as foot scrub, we chose the latter as we had a lot of massages during our stay here. While being pampered we enjoyed some music which played on the background alongside some treats and beer.

First on the order was this Hawaiian Pizza (IDR 95000) not very Balinese but you know it is good with beer so I have to get one. Topped with tomato, mozzarella cheese, ham and pineapple this is as tropical as you can get with pizzas, while it was not as good as the ones you get it Italy it was surprisingly close.

Another good beer match was this Calamari Fritti (IDR 75000), basically Breaded Calamari Served with Crispy Potato, Edmond Fallot Mayonnaise and Traditional Sauce. Like any fried food its crispy, greasy and amazing, you can’t go wrong with this, certainly it was a good calamari. What I also liked in this one is that it was made with the small squid which is a rarity back home, I was used to this growing up in the Philippines, it might be less meaty but it is way much more flavourful.

Then for the local treat we have this Nasi Campur (IDR 85000), a platter of Balinese specialties like Chicken Sambal Matah, Sweet Soya Pork Belly, Boil Egg on top with Bean Curd and Tofu Curry Balinese Serombotan and Steam Rice. It is certainly a nice dish to order to try different things at once, everything on that plate was delicious where my favourite one was? You guessed right, it was the pork, which reminds me of adobo and pata tim, the flavour is somewhere between the two.

We took our own sweet time losing it up with the family in a calm and relaxed environment, and as the sun sets, we walked down the quiet beach and enjoyed the cool breeze.
