Snowplanet 7 Summits Restaurant & Bar (Silverdale, New Zealand)
Snowplanet is a popular destination in Auckland for those who wants to enjoy winter sports without travelling to South Island’s snow-capped mountains, it is also popular with kids who wants to have fun times playing around artificial snow and bobsledding down its slopes. During the last couple of weekends that’s what my daughter did along with some friends, but for me while I don’t hate the snow, I don’t really know any winter sports to enjoy it but what I did enjoy is having some bar food and drinks while the kids play.
Snowplanet’s 7 Summits Restaurant and Bar, is where I stayed and it offers a place where those like me can enjoy some of their offerings plus you have the large panoramic view to check what’s happening on the artificial snow slopes. It is a large place around 250 seats that can cater for casual diners and for those who are hungry after some work out on those snow fields.
We stayed here for at least three hours, me enjoying my Sol on one hand while digging in on some of the bar food we ordered. Starting with some pizzas like their Margarita pizza (NZ $27.00) prepared with house made Napoli sauce, tomatoes, mozzarella and basil pesto
Then this BBQ Pulled Pork Pizza (NZ $28.00) made with house Napoli sauce, roasted capsicum, red onions, mozzarella and house barbeque sauce. While the base is not like the chewy ones you get in a proper pizza parlour, the toppings and sauce were good enough to satisfy those pizza lovers out there.
Bar food will not be complete without some deep-fried stuff like this large Asian Platter that consists of Spring Rolls, Wontons and Samosas. I bet this is not house made as I buy the exact same thing in the supermarket, but like any fried food you would not go wrong with this. Served with large bowl of sweet chilli sauce and soy sauce dip, it was a good partner with any beer.
And finally, another fried marvel was this Deep-fried potato wedges lathered in melted cheese and sour cream topped with bacon bits, this one was a winner, the summit of bar food. Potatoes was cooked perfectly, crunchy on the outside and fluffy soft on the inside, then with enough cheese and sour cream melting on the hot spuds, it was good.
It was fun times, the daughter and friends enjoyed it while I also enjoy my own serenity on that other side of the window. Staff was really helpful and the place was very vibrant.
