Andy’s Burger and Bar (Auckland CBD, New Zealand)
If you are looking for some good burgers in Auckland with some options of good sides then look no further Andy’s Burger and Bar is here. Right smack in the middle of the CBD located inside of Sky City this place is really accessible. They serve great burgers, buffalo wings, pork ribs, thick shakes, wine, cocktails and beer, what more can you ask for, it is the perfect hangout on a weekend afternoon.
I have seen this a lot of times before but this was the first time I dined in here, what enticed us was this Espresso Martini poster outside which seems to be a good proposition that time after a full morning of conference.
After finishing up the martini I also grabbed some beer on tap in the form of 500 ml Emerson’s Pilsner (NZ$13.50), this was an easy drink hence I got a couple or three of these.
With the beer we had several sides, the Halloumi Chips(NZ$9.00), which are deep fried halloumi cheese & tapioca sticks, spiced tomato jam. I am a fan of halloumi so no questions here.
Also grabbed some Beer Battered Onion Rings (NZ$7.00) served with hickory-smoked salt, this was so light and crispy, onions are so soft which I prefer so when you bite it the whole thing does not go off.
And we also got some trusty old French Fries (NZ$7.00 large).
Then we saw that they also serve this Andy’s Hot Wings (NZ$19.50 for 1/2 kg), these buttermilk-fried wings, buttery hot sauce, blue cheese dip is Andy’s Bar take on the buffalo wings and they did it really well. Not to spicy for the chicken, just right on the spot and blue cheese is not to mouldy in taste, it was really nice.
For the burger, initially I was interested on this Crabby Crab (NZ$19.00), not your normal meat burgers instead this is prepared with Soft shell crab in Sriracha Aioli and Asian slaw. It was quite unique, definitely tasty, I would love to have this again.
Then the finale would be a normal meat burger in the form of Deluxe BBQ Cheeseburger (NZ$16.50), a good-sized burger of Beef patty, smoked cheddar, bacon mayo, McClure’s pickles, free-range bacon, BBQ sauce and charred onion. This was burger at its best, not to crazily large that you can’t shove it in your mouth, it is just enough to fill your satisfaction.
It was a nice meal, definitely cured a lot of my cravings, like I said burgers, beers and wings what more can you ask for?
