Po Karaoke Bar (Auckland CBD, New Zealand)

Looking for the best Karaoke deal in Town well look no further as we found it and it’s called Po Karaoke Bar, what’s even better if you visit them during Happy Hours from 5:30 to 8:30 then the rooms are free of charge on the condition that you spend at least NZ$18.00 on food and drinks per person. So why not have dinner there pay your dinner and you got free karaoke plus they give you free parking as well. If in case you exceed the happy hour then they charge for NZ$28.00 for the Small Room, NZ$38.00 for Medium Room, $48.00 for Large Room and $48.00 for VIP Room per hour.

My wife visited this place many times already with friends, it was my first time here and I was impressed. The Karaoke machines may look foreign since most of their customers are Asian the first songs you will see are in Chinese language but don’t worry there are tons of English songs. Equipped with intuitive touch screen controls, large TV and good speakers, it’s all you wanted for a karaoke bar.

There were seven of us when we visited last time so we ordered quite an amount of food, servings are large so one portion can serve two people. There were seven dishes ordered where we got the Rice Noodles with Beef in Black Pepper Sauce (NZ$16.00),
Salty Fish and Chicken Fried Rice (NZ$18.00), Salt and Pepper Chicken (NZ$15.00), Salt and Pepper Tentacles of Squid (NZ$13.00)
Mongolia Beef (NZ$16.00), Rice Noodles with Beef (NZ$16.00) and Sweet and Sour Pork (NZ$16.00).

All dishes were great, typical Chinese fare where it was cooked fresh as you order. Everything was tasty, all the meat was tender and delivered to your room piping hot. I specially loved the Salt and Pepper Chicken and Squid, tasty and crunchy and it was really good with my beer of choice Corona (NZ$8.00).

For the three hours of happy hour, we really did had fun, it’s just enough time for singing before you voice starts to sound raucous or hoarse. Tons of songs, good food and good company, it was indeed a great deal and to top it all up we just left our car in the parking and went out for dessert at another place for more than an hour and there was no extra charge. So, think of it $18.00 for a dinner, karaoke and parking in the CBD, is there a better deal than that?
