Sardines with Misua and Patola is a delicate noodle soup dish prepared by sauteing garlic and onions together with sardines, luffa and flour vermicelli.


  • 125g misua noodles
  • 400 g canned sardines in tomato sauce (this is the large can)
  • 1 patola, peeled and sliced
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups water
  • oil
  • fish sauce
  • salt
  • freshly ground black pepper


  1. In a soup pot add oil then sauté garlic and onions
  2. Add the sardines with the sauce then cook for a couple of minutes.
  3. Pour the water and add the patola, bring to a boil then simmer in low heat for 5 minutes
  4. Add the misua and continue to simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Season with fish sauce and freshly ground black pepper turn off heat then serve.
