Kababayan is a type of sweet bread popular in the Philippines, muffin like in preparation and texture this perhaps is its most simplest version as its only made with just eggs, sugar, milk and flour


  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • sugar for sprinkling


  1. In a bowl sift together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt
  2. In another bowl whisk together eggs, milk, vegetable oil and vanilla.
  3. Combine dry and wet ingredients together by gently whisking it together.
  4. Prepare a non-stick muffin pans, and fill each section until half full.
  5. Bake in a 180C preheated oven for 15 minutes or until top is golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven, brush top with melted butter, remove them from muffin pans and let it cool in wire racks.
