Vero Waterpark Function Centre (Manukau City, New Zealand)
Several weeks ago, we had our team building at Vero Waterpark, if you don’t know what this is most probably you will remember it through some Facebook videos that went viral last year about a man made white water rafting park.
It is a popular venue in New Zealand to hold such team events or even a fun activity with family and friends but if you are planning to have a conference they do have the right amenities to hold such event. Made with reused container vans there are function rooms you can hire complete with facilities you need.
On premises they have a small food stall but they do also have some catering which on our case was catered by Austin’s Food Design Events. Our caterer had an option you can choose from snacks to lunch and it was a good selection of sweets and savouries for snacks and different cuisines for Lunch.
On snacks I chose croissant filled with cheddar, tomato, rocket pesto and a selection of Danish pastries which were served with freshly brewed tea & coffee. You can never go wrong with good croissants and these guys delivered, soft buttery on savoury cheese makes you to want more. Danishes were great as well, there were three selections and they were all spot on.
At lunch what was serves was a feast, a selection of dishes with Mexican influence staring with a Cornmeal roll with cured chorizo salami, avocado, lettuce and tomato, Spanish onion and coriander salsa, then Chicken with onion and apricot churrasco skewer flavoured with paprika, garlic and cachaça. There were also some Spiced beef and raisin empanadas, quesadillas filled with Mushroom, spring onion, chilli, coriander and cheese, tarts made with Corn, spinach, Spanish black bean and cheddar cheese.
For desserts it was a selection of seasonal fruits and cinnamon dusted churros, again all served with tea & coffee. I love almost everything, the quesadillas was really nice, warm, cheesy and soft. The chicken was really tasty and the apricot compliments it really well. Tarts were amazing and even the Cornmeal roll was good even for me who never choose bread as the first option. The only let down was the fruits, the rock melon and winter melon was bland so to fix that I just drizzled it with chocolate from the churros.
We all had a good lunch and my colleagues loved the selection (at least that’s what they told me). After lunch we went back finish our conference and off the water park and do some white-water rafting, a perfect activity to complete the day. It was fun, it looks dangerous but once the adrenalin kicks in you will start having fun all the way until that 4.5m waterfall drop. So, if you are planning you next team building activity, consider this as an option, your team would love it especially if most of them are thrill seekers.
