Dragon Boat Restaurant (Auckland CBD, New Zealand)

During my stays in Hong Kong we nearly have yum cha for lunch on a regular basis, I just can’t get enough of it. This small bite size morsels are a delight for most of your senses, taste, sight, smell and feeling. These places were abundant there but here in New Zealand it is not as popular but it is getting there.

Today near our office I think there are several places that offer this and one the affordable ones in the city is this place called Dragon Boat Restaurant. I have been here for a lot of times since its just near my work place but today I made sure I took some photos to share to you what their offering looks like.

This time we ordered eight types of yam cha items. Starting with Deep Fried Glutinous Rice Balls with Minced Pork Stuffing, Combination Fried Rice, Barbecue Pork Bun, Pork Shumai, Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce, Beef Tendons, Prawn Dumplings and Prawn & Coriander Dumplings.

They were all amazing! Prices range from $5.00 to $8.00 per yum cha if I can remember correctly which is quite OK for a restaurant located in the CBD.

As for the range, there are more than what we had, I guess we did not even scratched the surface of the whole menu to which I think they offer more than 60 variations, to add to this they also have ala carte menu in addition to this already wide selection. I would definitely love to try all of them but I will reserve it for the next time.

Have not gone for dim sum for a long time as it’s mostly wheat, not gluten free. Now you’ve got me craving…

  2. Everything looks delish… and has that homemade feeling. I wish I could eat there!
